I first realised my profound love of fashion when I was 16 years old. Growing up in a small country town in the USA, meant shopping was limited to the towns local stores and that everyone’s wardrobe was pretty much identical.

Craving more, I begged my mum for a subscription to Seventeen Magazine (US teen fashion mag) and each month when it arrived, I’d lock myself in my bedroom and study it from cover to cover drawing inspiration from the fashion styling tips, makeup and hair tutorials and the latest fashion trends.

Unbeknown to me at the time, but that magazine was the starting point for my career in the fashion industry. I studied fashion straight out of high school and set up my own business styling friends, family and extended clientele. I was studying at night, working retail during the day and curating wardrobes in the evening.

Since that time, a lot has changed. I met my partner, moved to Australia, got married, and have two beautiful boys. So much has changed but the one constant in my life has always been fashion and in particular styling.

In 2014, I starting a fashion blog aimed at inspiring others how to incorporate different styles into their wardrobe, mixing luxe with inexpensive items, investing in staple pieces and regular updates on key industry trends. The response was overwhelming and I quickly built up a regular client base that has allowed me the platform to turn my passion into a full-time business.

Who would have thought the catalyst for Kamri Hill Styling all started from that 16-year-old country girl with a dream and a magazine. Thanks, Mum!
