Travel Blog - Fiji

We had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Fiji last week and to say we loved it is an UNDERSTATEMENT. My husband and I both had never been there so we weren't sure what to expect, but we were blown away by what a great time we had and how relaxed we were!

I wanted to write a blog about our trip so I could share with you all where we stayed at all the great things we were able to do whilst there!

Where we stayed:

Fiji Hilton Resort & Spa

We stayed on DENARAU ISLAND, which is about 20 minutes from Nadi Airport. There are TONS of other resorts on Denarau Island, which all hug the beach front. We were able to go to some of the other hotels for a swim or for dinner some nights.

The Hilton had amazing amenities: - 3 Restaurants - Gym & Spa - Band entertainment at night - Kids Club & Kids activities that run all day - my 5-year-old LOVED this - Water Slides - my 2-year-old loved these! - Pool Side drink and food service - Free beach water sports - Paddle Boarding and Kayaking - Nightly turndown service - my boys loved the chocolate on their pillow every night! HA - Beachfront rooms with STUNNING views

Where we ate:

A lot of people told us that food and drink in Fiji were expensive, which we found to be PARTLY true. At the resorts, most things were pretty spendy. However, they offered a lot of specials for kids under 5 years old to eat free at the buffets and restaurants.

Luckily there was a great little Port only 5 minutes from the hotel that has heaps of restaurants to choose from as well as a supermarket to buy food. We ate at Port Denarau Marina for a lot of our meals because the cost for food and drink was much lower than at the resorts.

Here is where we ate:

Lulu's Bar and Cafe - Good Breakfast

Cordo's Steakhouse - Lots of variety!

Bonefish Seafood Restaurant - my favourite meal!

Amalfi Italian Restaurant - BIG Pizzas!

Mamacita Mexican - this was at the Wyndham Resort

Maravu Restaurant & Bar - At the Hilton Resort. We ate here TWICE cause it was so good, and we got to watch the sunset both times.

What we loved about Fiji:

- The people!!! Everyone is so welcoming and kind. The service was really good and the Fijian people love kids! - How easy it was to get around. The Bulla Bus stopped at all the resorts as well as the Port. It was a hop on and off that you could use as many times a day as you'd like for $8 FJ - kids under 12 ride free with an adult!! - The kids' activities- there were activities for the kids all day at the resort by the pool and at the kids club. Marble diving, relay races. coconut bowling, watermelon smashing, and much much more!!! My kids were so entertained! - Short travel time. Living in Australia we are used to the fact that everything is SOOOO far away. But Fiji was an easy 4-hour flight and only a 2 hour time change. It makes life so much easier when you don't have to be stuck on a plane for 10 hours before arriving at your destination!

In conclusion, we loved everything about Fiji and can not wait to go back!!
